Lean into Jesus

Lean into Jesus. I know it sounds simple, too simple; the things of heaven are simple. The love of God is straight forward. Our God, the father of creation, the source and progenitor of all things is love.

We have made love a complicated emotion, a feeling: parsed out with qualifications and adjustments for the fallen race of humanity. Today societies and cultures around the world are struggling to understand gender, marriage and other basics our great grandparents would never have questioned. Today our children are not even assured of their humanity.

The purest, simplest presentation of the Gospel message is John 3:16. God gave of Himself, His son, to restore life to His creation, His children even the planet itself.

God is love. He works in and through that love for the increase and perfection of that love. Moses had to be sheltered from the brilliance of the light of that love.

Our frailty sees the Glory, light and fire of this light and presence as destructive: a refining winnowing fire that consumes and destroys. The perception is out of our weakness not our redemption. The heat of God’s light and fire is a passion, a creative passion, a sustaining passion. Remember the burning bush? It was not consumed.

On Pentecost the sound of mighty wind accompanied flames of fire upon each one who had gathered in one accord: homothumadon, one passionate breath. Emerged and filled with Holy Spirit, these men and women began a re-creation of this world.
